Confessions of an Anxious Mortician

welcome to my anxious brain

Empty Storage And Cat Food

Sigh. If I didn’t have important alcohol consumption plans for the rest of October, I would totally leave for my new life tomorrow. I’m ready. Really, really, ready. I’ve been couch surfing for a month now, mostly on the same couch, but still not my couch. Not my own space. Not my personalized comfort zone.

I’ve been doing my best to stay focused and motivated – and positive – but it’s getting harder the longer I’m still in a city I don’t want to be in anymore. And now that I have sold, donated, and given away over two thirds of my possessions, leaving the remaining in a corner of my chosen-sister’s garage, the desire to leave is sevenfold.

When I last wrote, almost three weeks ago (for shame!), I had just lost my mind on the ex for a second time, as well as had a little party with some close friends, during which I made some money and they made off with tokens of Hilary. Win win!

Since then, I have emptied and closed out my storage unit, gotten my car tuned up for selling, stayed with my parents for a couple nights – in a queen-sized bed – bought a couple new books, cat-sat for my sister two weekends in a row, and ordered my moving cube storage thingy.

I also hung out with Cat Hag. At feeding time. It was a sight to be seen. Lucky for you, I managed to take a few pictures. They don’t really do the scene justice, but you can get a feel for it.

With the exception of a few appointments here and there, October is dedicated to hanging out with old friends and enjoying the rest of my time in the area I’ve spent the greater part of my 39 years. I’m sure I will have lots of feels these coming weeks, and I hope you’ll be there for me. There’s a lot of horrible shit going on in the world these days, and I realize that focusing on me is a bit lame, but shit, at the end of MY life all I’ll have is ME. I need to start taking care of myself now so I can help the world through eco-friendly burials later.

Speaking of which, have you ever heard of Hydro Cremation?? It’s friggin’ awesome!

“…hydro cremation is an environmentally focused cremation alternative that is both dignified and effective. The process uses 95% water and 5% alkali instead of direct flame and fossil fuels to cremate human remains.” [source]
